At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers in Los Angeles, CA, we conduct sleep studies that help us diagnose a sleep disorder. Our board-certified physician, Dr. Avi Ishaaya, has successfully treated different sleep disorders for more than 20 years. Our staff is committed to offering our patients a life without trouble sleeping from loud snoring, night terrors, insomnia, sleep apnea, or narcolepsy.

During a consultation, you can find out what is causing your sleep disorder, which allows us to create a custom treatment plan that focuses on improving your health in Los Angeles, CA. If you qualify for a sleep study, a prescription is given to you at your consultation. We can conduct a consultation at our center or during a telemedicine health visit.

Types of sleep studies we offer

At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers in Los Angeles, CA, we offer both daytime and overnight sleep studies that can be conducted at home or in our sleep lab. In 2004, Dr. Ishaaya founded the Midway Sleep Lab, a state-of-the-art sleep center in Los Angeles, CA. At this facility, we offer different sleep studies tailored to each patient’s needs. It is fully accredited with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and offers a comfortable place for sleep studies that monitor a patient’s brain, heart, and lungs.

These sleep studies include:

  1. Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT): This daytime study evaluates daytime sleepiness, alertness, and how long a patient remains awake during a designated time period.

  2. Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT): For patients with daytime sleepiness, this test can see how fast you fall asleep, and when you enter a REM sleep stage, if ever. This test is recommended for those who may show symptoms of narcolepsy.

  3. Polysomnogram (PSG): This overnight sleep study measures brain waves, heart rhythm and rate, blood oxygen levels, movement, breathing, and any disruptive behaviors.

  4. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Titration (CPAP) Study: For patients with signs of sleep apnea, Dr. Ishaaya will conduct an overnight study. Then, you will be sent home to use a machine that tests the CPAP’s singular pressure level to determine the best possible treatment. Sometimes, we use polysomnograms with this study.

  5. Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) Titration Study: This test is used for patients who may respond better to different pressure strengths than those of the CPAP machine. This overnight sleep study uses BiPAP device pressure to test different patterns of breathing.

All of these sleep studies are covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare. We can go over your financial obligations with you before conducting a sleep study. Depending on your health, we may recommend an overnight, in-lab test instead of an at-home test.
