At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers in Los Angeles, CA, we conduct different sleep study tests to help our patients determine if they have a sleep disorder. Our board-certified physician, Dr. Avi Ishaaya, has successfully treated sleep disorders for over 20 years. When you suspect that you have a disorder that is affecting your sleep, it’s important to schedule a consultation.

At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers, we help our patients live a life without sleep disturbances, whether it be insomnia, sleep apnea, snoring, or narcolepsy. Finding out what is causing your sleep disorder allows us to create a custom treatment plan that focuses on improving your health and quality of life. An at-home sleep study is done in the comfort of your own home.

What can an at-home sleep study show?

An at-home sleep study shows us if you have many different sleep disorders, including:

  • Insomnia

  • Narcolepsy

  • Periodic limb movement disorder

  • REM sleep behavior disorder

  • Restless legs syndrome

  • Sleep apnea

After we diagnose you with a sleep disorder, Dr. Ishaaya will make treatment suggestions that help resolve your sleep problems and your health. The goal of a sleep study is to diagnose a sleep disorder and make treatment suggestions that improve your sleep, your health, and your quality of life, all at once.

Sometimes your results will cause Dr. Ishaaya to want to do other tests such as a multiple sleep latency test, continuous positive airway pressure titration study, or a bilevel positive airway pressure titration study.

How does a sleep study at home work?

An at-home sleep apnea test is done in your home. We ask that you refrain from alcohol and caffeine in the afternoon and evening of your sleep study. During your consultation, we explain how to use the technology to perform your test correctly. A breathing monitor and sensors can track your oxygen levels and breathing when you wear it while asleep. You should not feel any discomfort while you’re sleeping.

Ultimately, we are always available to answer any questions you have to make sure it is set up properly. Our at-home sleep test is as reliable as an in-lab sleep test. Best of all, an at-home sleep study is usually covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare. Because of certain medical conditions, an overnight, in-lab sleep test may be more appropriate for some patients. This can be determined at your consultation.
