A healthy heart is essential for all physical functions of the body and to sustain an elevated quality of life. At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers, our specialists offer a wide range of cardiac or heart testing to provide patients with accurate results to help treat medical issues early and to help prevent severe, future complications. Board-certified physician Dr. Avi Ishaaya works with patients throughout Los Angeles, CA via scheduled appointments.

What is a heart test?

A heart test, or a cardiac test, is a standardized examination or specialized tool used to analyze the functions of the heart. At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers, Dr. Ishaaya can use heart tests to assess any of the following:

  • Heart anatomy: valves, chambers, tissue, and the circulatory system

  • Heart rhythm

  • Blood flow and pressure

  • Blood clots or other atypical blockages

What types of heart tests are available?

Once Dr. Ishaaya completes the initial consultation, he can determine what heart tests would be appropriate for the patient. At Dr. Avi Ishaaya Centers, we have the following heart tests available:

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG): Examines electrical activity and certain arrhythmias.

  • Echocardiogram (ECHO): Tests circulation and detects potential blockages.

  • Stress Test: Tests heart functions based on physical exertion.

  • Arterial Ultrasounds: Produces images of arteries, veins, and thyroid glands.

  • Cardiometabolic Testing: A series of blood tests to assess risk for diabetes and heart disease.

  • At-home Holter Monitor Test: Small device to be worn at home to examine heart rhythms over a 24-48 hour period.

Our team will explain to each patient how to prepare for each test before arriving at the office, if preparation is required.

At what age should I get a heart test?

Dr. Ishaaya suggests that men and women over the age of 45 qualify for participating in a heart test. However, age will vary depending on the patient’s medical history, lifestyle choices, and individual risk factors for poor heart health.

How does a heart test work?

Most tests will take a few minutes to complete, and results are issued in a timely manner.

What if my tests reveal abnormal results?

After Dr. Ishaaya has thoroughly examined your heart tests, our team will schedule a consultation for you to discuss your results. If your results reveal anything atypical, Dr. Ishaaya will make recommendations about the next steps in your treatment plan.
